The Valentine's Day Dilemma PDF Print E-mail

What do you get for a person who doesn't currently have a racecar for Valentine's Day?  That was me this year...beating my head against the wall trying to figure out what to get my husband Tony.

For the past 9 years that I've known Tony, he's either had a car he was racing or was building one.  So every birthday, Christmas, anniversary, Father's Day and Valentine's Day it was easy to find something for him...either racing gear or something kewl for the car.  This year, since Pinky is now owned by someone else, I didn't know what to do.  Our anniversary in November wasn't too bad...I figured out something nice that he needed for himself.  Christmas was a tough one...but a new watch and Sirius radio for the new dually resolved that dilemma.  But Valentine's Day?  I was stumped.  I've been gnashing my teeth over this for about two weeks and every idea I could come up with I quickly rejected.  So, since we've got a nice little cold front coming through I got him some really warm sweatpants for wearing at the shop and a really neat shirt made out of some kind of super fabric that's soft, warm, and has a little more style and stretch than just a generic sweatshirt.  I figure it was something that he'd appreciate in a day or two.  Being warm and having mobility in our shop on cold days is important.  If you wear too many layers you end up like the little brother in 'The Christmas Story' who can't move because he's got so many layers of clothes on!

So after a late day at work I come home to a dozen roses and a big bag with a picture of a cute puppy on it.  Okay, the roses are ALWAYS appreciated, but what's in the puppy bag???  A box.  And it's kinda heavy.  And I'm told to ignore the printing on the box because what's inside didn't come in this particular box.  So I open it to find....

...a Danny Bee belt drive kit.  A sure sign of true love in this house.

Naturally, I've got to check it all out to see what it's like, how it works, ask a bunch of questions about it, and know that tomorrow morning it leaves my hands to go to Kris Starns to get matched up to the rest of my motor.  Life is good.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone and I hope that you have the opportunity to share this day with someone you care about.  Even better, I hope you have someone to share it with that just might appreciate piston rings better than diamond rings.

Smile
